Learning For Life

 Our Life Skills Program at our Monroe Location houses a “studio apartment” which includes a bedroom, full kitchen, laundry room, recreational room, and magnificent Sensory Gym. This therapeutic program is run by a Speech Therapist and Occupational Therapist. It is designed for children with special needs ages 10 and up. This one of a kind program teaches children daily life skills to promote independence, self advocacy, social interaction, communication, and self confidence.   

Some of the areas of focus will include:

  • Dressing 
  • Grooming/Hygiene
  • Creating/Following a Schedule
  • Meal Preparation/Kitchen Safety
  • Sorting /Doing Laundry
  • Ordering food at a restaurant/social skills at the table
  • Household tasks (sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning counters, emptying garbage) 
  • Time management/setting alarm
  • Money management
  • Working cooperatively with peers
